LET ME SEE A SMILE GALLERY

18 WEEKS LATER:
Our first major production, Let Me See A Smile, was a time of growth in many ways. We poured our hearts and many weeks into this one, working our tails off to produce a sobering look at family life and talent pageants, focusing primarily on the parent-child relationship, expectations and priorities.

Due to the complexity and large cast, this was also our first play to use two Assistant Drama Coordinators, and understudies. Heather Beckey doubled as a choreographer, and an interesting situation ocurred during one rehearsal when a child actress that was supposed to make mistakes during a dance sequence pulled Heather aside and asked for help "practicing mistakes".

Yvonne Alley stepped in and did a wonderful job editing the video, which will be modified for an upcoming podcast. We'll be posting a script first chance we get.

Aside from a few technical mishaps, we're pretty happy with how this one turned out. After 18 long weeks of rehearsals and preparation for the purpose of performing the play only once, we're hoping the podcast will enable us to make more effective use of this thought-provoking story.

Full of laughter and tears, this is one play you don't want to miss. We ended it with a very appropriate and sad song, Harry Chapin's "Cat's In the Cradle," but the song will not appear in the podcast - buy it on iTunes!
